  17. <p>     Senator David Boren, back from an Intelligence Committee
  18. trip to the Soviet Union, is brandishing a unique souvenir.
  19. General Vladimir Kryuchkov, chief of the KGB, gave the third-term
  20. Oklahoma Democrat a newly issued series of stamps honoring some
  21. of the spy agency's biggest heroes. Included in the set: Kim
  22. Philby, the notorious mole in the British intelligence service
  23. who defected to Moscow in 1963 and joined the KGB's inner circle.
  24. In jest, Senator Boren asked his Soviet host why Philby's equally
  25. famous fellow double agents, Guy Burgess and Donald MacLean, had
  26. not been given their own stamps. "That's the next series,"
  27. replied Kryuchkov.
